‘Herencia’ was inspired by the Iguazú Falls, one of the seven modern natural wonders of the world. The title — which translates from Spanish as Inheritance — refers to World Heritage sites that, while protected, belong to no one in particular. I sought to blend realism with expressionism to create a dreamlike atmosphere, allowing the scene to move beyond a specific physical location and instead become a concept — something more universal, symbolic, and open to interpretation.
